Single Touch Payroll

Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a compulsory legislative change to the way employers report their employees' tax and superannuation information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

From payday 2 May 2019 the University commenced reporting via STP to the ATO.

What this means for you

Before STP implementation

  • Payslips available on Web Self Service (WSS)
  • Payment Summaries accessed via WSS
  • The University uploaded annual payment summary information to the ATO
  • Access to tax information at the end of the financial year from your myGov account (if you linked ATO)
  • Registered tax agent has access to your tax information at the end of the financial year

After STP implementation (from payday 2 May 2019 onwards)

  • Payslips are still available on WSS
  • Future payment summaries from 2018/19 onwards will no longer be generated, therefore not available on WSS
  • Historical payment summaries can still be accessed via WSS
  • Payment summary information is now called an 'income statement' in your myGov account
  • ATO will send a notification to your myGov inbox when your income statement is 'tax ready' enabling you to lodge your tax return
