The following table details the approved thresholds and procurement method to apply from the 20th February 2014. Staff are advised that whilst these are the minimum requirements, additional quotes should be obtained in circumstances where the goods and services are either competitively priced or are readily available.
On the other hand, there will be occasions where the goods and / or services are of a specialist nature which restricts and limits the number of quotations received. In these circumstances the requisitioner must provide a statement outlining what research has been undertaken to determine potential supplier(s). A Sole Supplier Exemption Form is available to assist with this justification.
Threshold value (Inclusive of GST) | Procurement Method | Responsibility |
Up to $5, 000 | Quote optional | Faculties, Divisions, Centres, Enterprises |
$5,000 - < $20,000 | 1 written quote | Faculties, Divisions, Centres, Enterprises |
$20,000 - < $50,000 | 2 written quotes | Faculties, Divisions, Centres, Enterprises |
$50,000 - < $100,000 | 3 written quotes | Faculties, Divisions, Centres, Enterprises |
$100,000+ | RFx process ** | Board & Faculties, Divisions, Centres, Enterprises |
** The 'RFx' process can involve either a Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Tender (RFT). Further details regarding the appropriate process should be discussed with the Purchasing staff.
